Cumulus Numbulus
Cumulus Numbulus
Etching on hand-dyed Arches paper
30 x 22 / Image: 23.75x 15.75

The plate was first bitten at all one level using white ground. Then selectively deeply bitten and white ground applied into the deep bites. There is a surface rainbow roll vertically, the rainbow being slightly browner towards the edges while in the central vertical a blue that was more transparent than the intaglio color.
Multiple variations are available.
I researched and developed the dye, as no brown printmaking paper was obtainable at the time.
