Red Lotus from the Black Mire 6

I’ve been returning to this theme periodically, in different media and different styles, but so far always with the same inspiration or intent - trying to see or anticipate some speck of hope (red lotus) in an otherwise dark bleak world (black mire). In these collages, the world is black, chatoic and torn asunder, with just a glimmer, bits and pieces of the red lotus in evidence. The phrase is from my copy of “The Sutra of Hui Neng”.
Creating - the very act of it, of expressing myself, in addition to the physicality of it, ripping, piling, pasting, pounding, staying focused on these - are some of my ways of maintaining self-stability, working against world instability.
